Seavers in the News -- Mary Hilda Seaver and Dora (Dunning) Seaver Die in 1967 in Warsaw, Kentucky

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Cincinnati [Ohio] Enquirer  newspaper dated 3 March 1967, page 26:

The transcription of the article is:

"Warsaw Mother Dies Soon After Daughter

"WARSAW, Ky. -- Miss Mary Hilda Seaver, 62, died early Thursday at her residence here, where she lived in retirement with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Seaver.  Eighteen hours later, her mother, Mrs. Dora Seaver, 85, died of shock.

"The family told Mrs. Seaver, who had been ill for about four years, that her daughter was being taken to the hospital.  The mother died without knowing her daughter was deceased.

"There will be joint services for Mrs. Seaver and her daughter, at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Carlton Funeral Home here.  Their burials will be in he Warsaw Cemetery.  Visitation, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

"They are survived by their husband and father, Jasper Seaver.  Also surviving is Mrs. Seaver's son, Floyd Seaver, and sister, Mrs. Mattie Ashcraft, Warsaw.

"Until she retired, Miss Seaver was employed by the Gibson Art Co., Cincinnati."

A twofer - two obituaries in one article.  This obituary identifies their ages, residence, implied death date and place, spouse's, children's and sibling's names, no occupation, some work history, and no church association information.

Mary Hilda Seaver (1904-1967) was born 18 April 1904 in Gallatin, Kentucky, the daughter of Jasper and Dora (Dunning) Seaver.  She died 2 March 1967 in Warsaw, Kentucky.  She never married and had no known children.

Dora (Dunning) Seaver (1880-1967) was born 3 June 1880 in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of Jasper and Aletha Jane (Porter) Dunning. Dora died 2 March 1967 in Warsaw.  She married Jasper Seaver (1877-1971) on 26 April 1903 in Gallatin County, Kentucky.  She had two known children with Jasper, Mary Hilda Seaver (1904-1967) and Floyd Ford Seaver (1921-1999).

I am not related to Mary Hilda, Jasper and Floyd Ford Seaver.  Jasper's Seaver line goes back to his great-grandparents, Johannes Wilhelm and Catherine (Peck) Sievert.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a mother and a daughter die on the same day.  I am glad that I can honor Mary Hilda and Dora (Dunning) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
