I looked in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.
The treasure today is the 1695 marriage record of Stephen Hazard and Elizabeth Helme in Kings Town, Rhode Island:
The marriage record is the 4th record from the top of the page:
The transcription of this marriage record is:
"HAZARD, Stephen (-1727) & Elizabeth HELME (-1727(-)); b 1695; N. Kingston, RI/S. Kings Town."
The source citation for this record is:
"U.S. New England Marriages Prior to 1700," indexed database with digital images, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com), page 361, Stephen Hazard and Elizabeth Helme marriage entry, before 1695.
This record is a Derivative Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the marriage of Stephen Hazard and Elizabeth Helme in Kings Town, Rhode Island in about 1695. The original record is probably in a Kings Town town record book that is no longer extant.
Stephen Hazard (1665-1727) was born about 1665 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, the son of Robert and Mary (Brownell) Hazard. Elizabeth Helme (1677-1727) was born about 1677 in Kings Town, Rhode Island, the daughter of Rouse and Mary (Eldred) Helme. They had nine children.
Stephen and Elizabeth (Helme) Hazard are my 7th great-grandparents. I am descended through their son Thomas Hazard (1707-1748) who married Hannah Slocum (1910-1737) in 1727.
