52 Ancestors - Week 477: #757 Martha (Ackers) Card (1668-1716) of New Shoreham and South Kingstown, Rhode Island

 Martha (Ackers) Card (1668-1716) is #757 on my Ahnentafel List, my 7th great-grandmother, who married #756 Job Card (1653-1739) in 1689 in New Shoreham, Rhode Island.

I am descended through:

Martha Acres (also known as Ackers or Ackurs) was born 26 February 1668 in New Shoreham, Rhode Island (on Block Island), the daughter of John and Margery (--?--) Ackurs[3].

"Jully Samantha" Ackers married Job Card in New Shoreham in November 1689[1-2,5-6].  Job Card was the son of Richard and Rebecca (--?--) of Newport, Rhode Island  Job and Martha (Ackers) Card had six children, all born and recorded in New Shoreham, Newport County, Rhode Island. They are:

*  Job Card (1690-1760), married 1716 Judith Greenman (1694-1786).
*  Rebecca Card (1694-1739), married 1709 Acres Tosh (1687-1739).
*  Martha Card (1699-1789), married 1721 Joshua Rathbone (1696-1779)
*  Margery Card (1702-1751), married 1724 John Foster (c1687-c1764).
*  Jane Card (1703-1727), married c1720 Isaac Sheffield (1695-1773)
*  Sarah Card (1705-1740), married 1727 Isaac Sheffield (1695-1773)

Martha's father, John "Ackurs of Block Island" died testate in New Shoreham, Rhode Island,  before 10 January 1699, when his will was proved by the town council[4].  He wrote his will dated 12 November 1698, which was proved 10 January 1698/9.  The will mentions wife Margery Ackurs; daughters Margery Tosh, wife of Daniel Tosh, and Martha Cards, wife of Job Cards.

Job and Martha (Acres) Card resided in Westerly, South Kingstown and Charlestown, Rhode Island[2].

Martha (Acres) Card died before 28 May 1716, probably in New Shoreham, when Job Card married his second wife, Martha's sister, Margery (Ackers) Tosh[3].

Martha left no probate or burial records.
