Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 7 to 13 January 2024

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for most daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  MyHeritage amends terms of service by Judy G. Russell on The Legal Genealogist.

*  Harnessing the Power of AI to Help You Write about Your Ancestors by Diane Henriks on Know Who Wears the Genes in Your Family.

*  The Importance of Saying Their Names by Laura Hedgecock on Treasure Chest of Memories.

*  21 Genealogy Tools I Can't Live Without DiAnn Iamarino on Fortify Your Family Tree.

*  GeneaGem: The Home Lots of the Early Settlers of the Providence Plantations by Charles Wyman Hopkins by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Family Lore by Marcia C. Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

*  Ron Arons, R.I.P. by Geoff Rasmussen on Legacy News.

*  Exploring Custom GPTs: My Journey into AI Tools for Genealogy by Steve Little on AI Genealogy Insights.

*  Level Up Challenge – 2024 by Lisa S. Gorrell on My Trails Into the Past.

*  How to Use Search Engines for Genealogy Research by Rick Crume on Family Tree Magazine.

*  Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) For Genealogy (Part One) by Ellen Thompson-Jennings on Hound on the Hunt.

*  My Ancestry Pro Tools Experience by Marie Cooke Beckman on MarieB's Genealogy Blog - Southeastern USA.

*  Off the Shelf: The Forever Witness by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

Jude’s Gen – January 2024 by Judith Batchelor on Genealogy Jude.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - January 13, 2024 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
