Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1850 Birth and Baptism Record of Torger Sjursen (1850-1933) in Voss, Hordaland, Norway

 This week's Thursday treasure is the 1850 Birth (Fodte) and Baptism (Dobte) record for Torger Sjursen in the Voss, Norway church records:

The birth and baptism record is #122, the 5th entry down this page.  Here is the left-hand page of the image above

I can figure out the information for the left-hand side of the big image, but not the right-hand side.  Here is what the left-hand side says (I think, in English, with help from the Image Index on the record page):

*  Parents Full Name:  Siur Torgersen  Britha Ardatter

*  Place of Residence:  Mølster

I didn't know what the column headings say, nor the word before the father's name.  The right-hand side of the image probably names the sponsors of the child.  The FamilySearch Research Wiki Norwegian Handwriting page helps but is  not exactly what I see.   

I had forgotten that Martin Roe of Norway had commented on an earlier post and offered a translation of the birth and baptism record in https://martinroe.com/blog/Cheatsheet1820.pdf, which I used for the itemized list above.  The right-hand page indicates the Witness's names, and by whom the child was baptized if at home.  Apparently he was.  

The source citation for this record is:

 "Norway Church Books, 1815-1930", FamilySearch, (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QHK-93PP-BKSQ), "Norway Religious Books, 1849-1863," Voss parish, 1850, image 22 of 239, Torger, son of Sjur Torgersen and Brita Ardatter, born 26 March 1850, baptized 9 June 1850.

Torger Sjursen (1850-1933) was born 26 March 1850 and baptized 9 June 1850 in Voss parish, Hordaland Norway, the first child and son of Sjur Torgersen (1804-1889) and Brita Olsdatter (1818-1895) of Mølster farm, who married 21 June 1850 in Voss parish.  Note that Torger Sjursen was born three months before his parents marriage.  

The record transcription on FamilySearch indicates that the mother's name is Britha Ardatter, but the marriage record (see here) says Britha Olsdatter.

The Sjur Torgersen family migrated to Dane County, Wisconsin in 1856.  They eventually adopted the surname Leland in the 1870s.  Torger Sjursen Leland married Anna Ellingsdatter Natvig (1853-1911) on 30 May 1876 in Deerfield, Dane County, Wisconsin, and Torger died in San Francisco, California.  They had ten children.

Torger Sjursen Leland and Anna Ellingsdatter Natvig are my wife Linda's great-grandparents through their son Severt Oliver Leland (1878-1940) who married Amelia Anna Brocke in 1904 in Helena, Montana.
