I can't help it, I can't do a wordless post! This is one of my favorite and most priceless family photographs:
This was the best Christmas ever at the Carringer's home in Point Loma in San Diego in 1953. My brother Stan (age 7, on the left shooting right-handed) and I (age 10, on the right, shooting left-handed) received coonskin caps, pants, shirts and Daisy BB guns for Christmas. We took them outside to practice on the front steps under the watchful eyes of our maternal grandparents - Lyle and Emily (Auble) Carringer. My guess is that my dad insisted on getting BB guns for us over the objections of my mother and her parents. We were big Davy Crockett and Hopalong Cassidy fans in the early 1950s.
This photograph is a part of our family history. I used the MyHeritage Photo tools to enhance the faces and brighten up the image.

In 1953 my father took my brother and me to the NYC Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade to see Hoppy & Topper. We were behind police barricades. But when Hoppy & Topper were right in front of us this 6 yr old ducked under the barricade and ran out to pet Topper. About 50 kids soon followed suit and the cops had a heck of a time rounding us all up! Topper took it all in stride and let everyone pet him.
