Here's mine:
My mind went immediately to my 4th great-grandfather, Isaac Buck (1757-1846) of eastern Massachusetts. He was born out of wedlock to Mary Richards (with purported father of Isaac Buck (1730-????), who married widower John Phillips (1722-1800) in 1774. He served in the Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1781. He married Patty Phillips in 1780 in Lancaster, Massachusetts, the daughter of John Phillips and his first wife, Hannah Brown. Isaac and Patty (Phillips) Buck had nine children. He was a farmer. Isaac applied for a Revolutionary War pension in 1818, and received $8 per month. At the time, he was injured and couldn't work. The inventory of his property totaled $30.25. By 1820, he and his wife had two children living at their home, and one was a 12 year old boy. They lost their ninth child shortly after his birth.
And then I remember four of my ancestors who were Loyalists in the Revolutionary War and fled to Canada during or after the war. William Hutchinson (1745-1826), Frederick Sovereen (1714-1805), John Kemp (1723-1795) and Johann Ernst Dafoe (1726-1784) and their families were uprooted and lived in refugee camps before settling in Ontario and making a new life for themselves and their children.
