Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Do You Have Any Ancestors From Whom You Descend Two (or more) Times?

 Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Come on, everybody, join in and accept the mission and execute it with precision.

1)   Do you have any ancestors from which you descend two (or more) times?

2)  Tell us how you descend from these ancestors on your own blog post, in a comment here, or on your Facebook page.  Be sure to leave a link to your report in a comment on this post.

[thank you to Linda Stufflebean for suggesting this topic!]

Here's mine:

I have several distant ancestors from whom I descend several times.  I have a whole 3% of my ancestry (ancestors of my 3rd great-grandfather Alpheus B. Smith (1802-1840)) that resided in Norfolk County, Massachusetts for over 200 years, mainly in the towns of Medfield, Dedham, Walpole and Medway.

The ancestors with the most descendant lines to me are my 8th great-grandparents Joseph Clarke (1613-1684) and Alice Fenn (1619-1710) of Medfield.  They had nine children.  There are four lines to me, three of them through my father, and one of them through my mother.

  • Joseph Clark (1642-1702) married 1663 Mary Allen (1641-1702).   [Father's side]
  • Mary Clark (1649-1732) married 1673 Jonathan Boyden (1652-1732).  [Father's side]
  • Sarah Clarke (1652-1704) married 1677 Samule smith (1641-1691).  [Father's side]
  • Ephraim Clark (1646-1694) married 1669 Mary Bullen (1642-1726).  [Mother's side]
There are three descendant lines to me from 9th great-grandparents Thomas Wight (1607-1674) and Alice --?-- (1608-1665) of Medfield.  They had seven children.  The three lines are all through my father:

  • Thomas Wight (1629-1690) married 1661 Mehitable Cheney (1643-1693).
  • Mary Wight (1638-1693) married 1657 Thomas Ellice (1629-1690).
  • Ephraim Wight (1643-1723) married 1668 Lydia Morse (1645-1722).
I have several other ancestral couples in Medfield with two descendant lines, and other ancestral couples in other places with two descendant lines.
