Betty and Her Red Fire Engine in 1923 -- (Not So) Wordless Wednesday #861

The little girl in her red (??) fire engine getting "gassed up" by the friendly attendant is my mother, Betty Virginia (Carringer) Seaver (1919-2002).  The gas station is on the southeast corner of the intersection of 30th Street and Ivy Street in San Diego, California.  The station is still there today!  This picture is probably from the 1922-1924 time period.

My guess is that Betty knew the attendant and stopped by there every time she pedaled her fire engine, and he probably made a big deal out of gassing her up.  He also had a lot of business from my grandfather and great-grandfather keeping their gasoline powered cars running in tip-top shape.

This photograph is a part of my family history.  I used the MyHeritage Photo tools to enhance and colorize a black and white photograph.  The MyHeritage colorization rendered the fire engine black, but aren't they all red?
