Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week (ending Sunday, 3 August 2025).
1) Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) program on Zoom on Wednesdayt by Lisa Medina on Mexican Genealogy.
2) Attended the San Diego Genelaogical Society (SDGS) DNA Interest group meeting on Zoom on Saturday with Colin Whitney presenting DNA Painter 2025.
3) Transcribed the 1771 Petition of Michael Ruth Requesting a Partition of the land of his intestate father (Peter Ruth) in Berks County, Pennsylvania with over 800 acres and 14 heirs-at-law. I transcribed it myself because FamilySearch Full-Text Search didn't have it and the handwriting was so poor that I thought an AI tool would be of little help..
4) Wrote a genealogical sketch for 2nd Great-GrandAunt Eliza (Carringer) Robinson (1827-1914) of Pennsylvania, Iowa, Kansas and Colorado for the 52 Relatives theme.
5) Curated genealogy-related articles to keep myself and my readers updated on the genealogy world in:
6) Wrote two "ABC Biographies" using my AI-assisted "Ancestor Biography Creation" process and an AI-assisted memoir, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack, in:

7) Requested free AI tools to tell me about these genealogy and family history subjects, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack:

10) Used Canva to create videos of several AI-assisted ancestor songs from Suno and several of the NotebookLM Podcasts. Created more videos using Canva and added them to YouTube - see all of them on my YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@RandySeaver.
11) My AncestryDNA now has 49,619 DNA matches (up 42 from 27 July) with 2,106 "close" matches today (up 3), with no new ThruLines. Added Notes to 3 Matches, and added no new DNA match lines to RootsMagic. MyHeritageDNA now has 13,690 DNA matches (up 15 from 27 July) for me. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.
12) Searched for more records of ancestral families on Ancestry, FamilySearch and MyHeritage, downloaded record images to my digital file folders, and added research notes, events and sources to RootsMagic profiles. My RootsMagic family tree now has 74,662 profiles (up 8 from last week) and 147,831 source citations (up 4).
14) Real life events: Visited Linda several days at her memory care facility and we played Uno. Went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. Lori and Logan visited until Tuesday and we visited Linda, and went to the Padres game on Monday. Attended the church men's group breakfast on Saturday morning. Still reading Hot Springs by Stephen Hunter. The Padres season continues and I watched the six Padres games this week - they were 5-1 this past week (overall 62-50 now).
