Elijah McKnew With His Daughters in About 1881 -- (Not So) Wordless Wednesday #922

  This is a priceless (to me) image in my computer file folders from the Leland family collection:

This photograph was taken in about 1881 in San Francisco, California.

The man in the photograph is Elijah Pickrell McKnew (1836-1912), my wife's great-grandfather. The girls in the photograph are probably Allethia Jane McKnew (1879-1959), Alice Louise McKnew (1872-1859), and Lilly M. McKnew (1876-1958).  

I have another photographj of Jane (Whittle) McKnew (1847-1921), Elijah's wife and the mother of their children, with her three sons at the time in the same studio.

I estimated the date of the photograph by the estimated ages of the children in both photographs, and that daughter Belle, born in 1882 was not included. 

I requested MyHeritage to enhance and colorize this photograph (it was a sepia photograph originally). I obtained the image from the Leland/McKnew photograph collection of Linda's brother, Paul Leland in about 2010.

This event is part of my family history!!
