Seavers in the News - Wayne Seaver Dies in 1966

It's time for another episode of "Seavers in the News" wherein I try to find obituaries and stories of persons named Seaver that are interesting, fun or macabre.

This week's article is an obituary for Wayne Seaver in the Kokomo [Indiana] Tribune newspaper dated 24 October 1966 found on Ancestry.com:

The transcription of this obituary is:

"Wayne Seaver

"Funeral services for Wayne L. Seaver, 63, West Palm Beach, Fla., will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Fenn Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Nicholson officiating.  Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.

"Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

"Mr. Seaver died at midnight Saturday at West Palm Beach following a one year illness.

"Born April 22, 1903, in Kokomo, he was the son of Benjamin and Anna (Watkins) Seaver.

"A graduate of Kokomo High School, he attended the Methodist Church and the medical school at Indiana University.  He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

"In 1927 he was married to Helen Shade, who survives with the mother of Kokomo; a brother, Lee Seaver, Kokomo; and four daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Jean) Hensler and Mrs. Richard (Sue) Steele, both of South Bend; Mrs. Lowell (Mary Frances) Maiz, Frankfort, and Mrs. Lloyd (Nancy Lee) Kehoe, Marathon Shores, Fla, and seven grandchildren."

The source citation for this obituary is:

"Wayne Seaver," Kokomo [Indiana] Tribune, Monday, 24 October 1966, page 2, column 5, Wayne Seaver obituary; indexed database and digital images,  Ancestry.com   (http://www.ancestry.com : accessed 18 May  2017).

This obituary is very well done, with the birth date, names of the parents, death date (Saturday, 22 October 1966 implied), death place, spouse's maiden name, marriage year, brother's name, names of four daughters and their spouses, and their residences.

I had Wayne Lowell Seaver (1903-1966) in my RootsMagic database already, with the correct birth and death dates, the name and information on his spouse, and the names of his four daughters, but not their spouses' names.

I added him and his wife and his parents to the FamilySearch Family Tree, and included the obituary in the profile as an event, a source and a Note.
