Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 31 May to 6 June 2015

Hundreds of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Challenge #22: Write Full Citations for Your Sources by Susan Farrell Bankhead on the Brickwall Genealogist blog.  Susan describes her source citation process.

*  A Few Thoughts: A New Leaf on the NEHGS Family Tree by Denise Levenick on The Family Curator blog.  Denise explains her love for NEHGS.

*  Indexed Family History Records Now Available Through the DAR Genealogical Research System by Elizabeth O'Neal on the Little Bytes of Life blog.  These records are from the 40,000 Bible Records in the DAR collection.

*  World's Largest Family Reunion:  Genealogy or Preen-ealogy? by Megan Smolenyak on the Huffington Post blog.  Megan discusses the Global Family Reunion and accuracy in online family trees.

*  Confessing a Genealogical Mistake by Diane Haddad on the Genealogy Insider blog.  I'm pretty sure that most of us have done something similar - I know I have.

*  Getting Started in the Family History Library: Part 2 by Jenny Lanctot on The In-Depth Genealogist blog.   Jenny has more advice for those bound for the FHL.

*  Genealogipedia's Not My Thing by Michael John Neill on the Rootdig.com Blog.  Michael explains why he doesn't contribute to online collaborative family trees.

*  Ontario Genealogical Society Conference 2015 - Some Thoughts by Janet Iles on the Janet the Researcher blog.  Janet summarizes her experiences at this yearly regional conference.

*  Faster! Always Faster! by Dave McDonald on the Thinking Genealogically blog.  Life has speeded up for our generation...Dave ponders how folks moved and communicated a century ago.

*  The Search for Marcy Ballou by Diane Boumenot on the One Rhode Island Family blog.  Diane continues her search for records of her ancestor.

*  And Now ... Ancestry Health by Roberta J. Estes on the DNAeXplained -- Genetic Genealogy blog.  Roberta shows the features of this new service from Ancestry.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 1560 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
