Treasure Chest Thursday - Post 284: 1718 Marriage Records for Balthazar Pickel and Anna Reiterin

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the  1718 marriage of Balthazar Pickel and Anna Gertrud Reiterin in the Dutch Reformed Church in New York City.  There are two records:

a)  Marriage Banns record, 3 August 1718:


The transcription of this record is:

Aug. 3    Balthazar Pickel b. in the county of Hartenburg Germ and
at N.Y.   Anna Gertrud Reiterin b. in the same county, now liv at N.Y.

Johann Balthazar Pickel (1687-1765) and Anna Gertrud Reiterin (1684-1761) are my 7th great-grandparents.  The raised their family in New Jersey.  I am descended through their son, Henry Pickel (1729-1765).
