1715 Marriage of John Fletcher and Mary Goble in Watertown, Mass. - Post #373 of Treasure Chest Thursday

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - time to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the  1715 marriage record of  John Fletcher and Mary Goble of Watertown, Massachusetts:

The marriage record (on left-hand page, second from the top):

The transcription of the marriage record is:

"John Fletcher and Mary Goble Both of Concord were Joyned in Marriage
May the 10^th 1715 By Jonas Bord Justice of the Peace."

The source citation for this record is:

Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, digital images, Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com), "Watertown births, Marriages and deaths," page 44 (image 206 of 3991), John Fletcher and Mary Goble marriage entry, 1715.

John Fletcher (1692-????) was born 26 May 1692 in Concord, the son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Wheeler) Fletcher.  Mary Goble was born 19 February 1693/4 in Concord, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Shepard) Goble.   They married on 10 May 1715 in Watertown, by a Justice of the Peace, rather than in Concord where they were raised and their parents resided.  I wonder why?

John and Mary (Goble) Fletcher are my 6th great-grandparents.

Like yourself, John Fletcher and Mary Goble are my 6th GGPs, through Martha Flon etcher and Solomon Whitney.
