Seavers in the News -- Llewellyn D. Seaver Dies in Cambridge, Mass. in 1936

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a semi-regular feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Boston [Mass.] Herald newspaper dated Tuesday, 28 July 1936:

The transcription of this obituary is:

"L.D. SEAVER, 69, BANKER, IS DEAD
--------------------------------------------------
Cambridge Resident Was Vice-President of First National Bank
--------------------------------------------------
SERVED 7 YEARS WITH INSTITUTION

"Llewellyn D. Seaver, 69, vice-president of the First National Bank of Boston and long prominent in Boston banking circles, died yesterday at his home, 993 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, following a brief illness.

"He was born in Roxbury, June 22, 1867, son of William and Eliza Seaver.  In 1885 he was graduated from Roxbury High School and his banking career began just 50 years ago as a messenger in the International Trust Company.  Mr. Seaver went to the Old Colony Trust Company as paying teller in 1902, becoming assistant cashier in 1907, and cashier in 1912, a position he held for 16 years.  In 1928 he was elected vice-president and upon the merger with the First National Bank of Boston the following year, he carried the same title.

"Mr. Seaver was a member of the board of managers of the Boston Provident Association, a trustee of the proprietors of the Forest Hills cemetery, a member of the board of managers of the Roxbury Home for Aged Women and the Roxbury Charitable Society.  He was also a member of the Boston City Club and the Megantic Fish and Game Club.

"He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary T. (Cole) Seaver, whom he married in 1893, and three children, Nelson H. Seaver, Mrs. Paul S. Peters, and William Seaver.  He also leaves several grandchildren.

"Funeral services will be held at the First Church in Roxbury, Eliot square, tomorrow at 3 P.M."

I have Llewellyn Davenport Seaver (1867-1936) in my RootsMagic family tree database.  He was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, the son of William Seaver (1818-1874) and Eliza Brady (1831-1897).  He married Mary T. Cole (1868-????) in Boston on 14 June 1893.  They had four children:

*  Nelson Hathaway Seaver (1895-1949), married Edith York Jones (1899-????) in about 1918.
*  Horatio Cole Seaver (1898-1900)
*  Elizabeth Seaver (1901-????), married Paul S. Peters.
*  William Seaver (1904-????), married Theodora M. Smith (1905-1938) in 1929 in Yonkers, New York.

Llewellyn Davenport Seaver is my 5th cousin 5 times removed.  The common Seaver ancestor is Robert Seaver (1608-1683), the 1634 immigrant to Roxbury, Massachusetts.

This obituary gave me the name of the husband of daughter Elizabeth, his work history and occupation, his benevolent activities, and his last address.  I need a death date for his spouse and his siblings, Elizabeth and William.
