Seavers in the News -- Mary Jane Seaver Dies in Port Huron, Michigan in 1959

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Times Herald [Port Huron, Mich.]  newspaper dated 4 March 1959:

The transcription of the article is:

"Mrs. C.J. Seaver

"Mrs. Mary Jane Seaver, 68, former resident of Port Huron, died Tuesday in her home 27027 Wellington, Franklin Village, Mich., after a long illness.

"She was born Aug. 15, 1890 in Port Huron.  She and Clarence J. Seaver were married March 15,1919.  She was a member of St. James Episcopal church, Birmingham.

"Shoe is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Adams and Miss Barbara Seaver, both of Franklin Village, and Mrs. Thomas Roseberry, Birmingham, and four grandchildren.

"The remains are in the Arthur Smith funeral home where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday.  Rev. Kenneth H. Gass, rector of St. James Episcopal church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery."

The source citation for the article is:

"Mrs. C.J. Seaver" Times Herald {Port Huron, Mich.] newspaper, dated 4 March 1959, page 7, column 1, Mary Anne Seaver obituary; digital image, Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com :  accessed 22 November 2018).

The obituary names her husband, her three daughters (but not the given names of the two married daughters), and provides a birth, marriage and death date.  It doesn't provide a maiden name for Mary Jane.

Fortunately, I recently added Clarence and Mary Jane (Crane) Seaver to my RootsMagic family tree database, but I did not have a birth or death date for them.  I did not have the childrens' names either.  A quick search on Ancestry and MyHeritage revealed the names, birth dates and death dates of the daughters:

*  Mary Stewart Seaver (1919-1999) married Raymond Adams.
*  Barbara McCall Seaver (1921-2010) married Lyle Stovall.
*  Dorothy Ann Seaver (1930-2015) married Thomas Roseberry.

I am not related, to my knowledge, to Clarence or Mary Jane (Crane) Seaver.  Clarence Seaver is descended from:

*  Arnon David Seaver (1864-1951) and Anna C. McCall (1869-1946)
*  Charles Wesley Seaver (1837-1893) and Charity Swackhammer (1849-1909).
*  Arnon C. Seaver (about 1800-????) and Catherine Ismond (about 1807-1880)

This is an England to Ontario to Michigan line of Seavers.
