My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.
Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:
* Keys to Making Your Unknown Parentage Case a Success by Kerry Scott on the Legacy Tree Genealogists blog.
* Your Ancestor in the 1890 Veteran Census Schedule by Melissa Finlay on the Boundless Genealogy blog.
* DNA Spotlight: The Shared cM Project by Marian Pierre-Louis on the Legacy News blog.
* American Settlements and Migrations: a Primer for Genealogists and Historians by Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruxck: Book Review by Linda Stufflebean on the Empty Branches on the Family Tree blog.
* How They Do It: Megan Smolenyak by Janine Adams on the Organize Your Family History blog.
* Leveling Up Chat with Crista Cowan and the Virtual Genealogical Association by Janet Hovorka on The Chart Chick blog.
* Tips for Identifying and Establishing Provenance of Family Records by Mary Harrell-Sesniak on the GenealogyBank Blog.
* Locked FamilySearch Update by Marcia Philbrick on the Heartland Genealogy blog.
* Mapping the Great Migration by Robert Charles Anderson on the Vita Brevis blog.
* Wowsers! Ancestry Fixed My ThruLines by Cathy Meder-Dempsey on the Opening Doors in My Brick Walls blog.
* Advanced Genetic Genealogy by Louis Kessler on the Behold Genealogy blog.
Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:
* Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on the Empty Branches on the Family Tree blog.
* Friday Fossicking - 12 April 2019 by Crissouli on the That Moment in Time blog.
* This Week's Creme de la Creme -- April 13, 2019 by Gail Dever on the Genealogy a la Carte blog.
Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.
Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thank you, as always, for this week's mention. Bockstruck's book is a true gem of American history. I hope others enjoy it as much as I do.
Thanks for the mention this week. Much appreciated.
