Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 22 September 2019

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) DNA Interest Group Meeting  with 8 in attendance.  I discussed the DNA.Land change, the FamilyTreeDNA home page redesign, the Leeds Method, the MyHeritage health acquisitions, Ancestry groups and relationship estimates, and ThruLines potential ancestors, including my Newton/Brigham issue. The attendees discussed their research challenges and successes.

2)  Watched one Family Tree Webinar - 1,000 Webinars: History, Bloopers, Inside the Tech, and what's next by Geoff Rasmussen.  This was a fun trip down memory lane.

3)  Was a panelist on today's Mondays With Myrt.  The panel discussed the UK Parliament family history site, Dave's newspaper article and the wreath laying at the cemetery, Family Tree Maker 2019, the CNet LibraryExtension for Amazon books, my "Cousin bait" Facebook note, RootsTech 2020 SLC registration, and several notable blog posts from the last week.

4)  Wrote and posted a biography of 6th great-grandmother #507 Martha (Morrison) Kinnan (1735-after 1785) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

5)  Transcribed an 1824 deed of  4th great-grandfather Nathan Gates quitclaiming land in Gardner, Massachusetts to Jabez Fairbank for Amanuensis Monday.

6) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 32,677 of my RootsMagic persons with FSFT.

7)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 54,780 persons in my RootsMagic file, and 109,618 source citations.   I TreeShared thrice this week updating 225 profiles, and I resolved 1,212 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 115,363 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.

8)  Received an email about my Whittle/Morley/Haslam research from a lady in England, who offered more information about the family.  This resulted from my 2010 blog posts.  Cousin bait works!!

9) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most popular post last week was Dear Randy: Do You Ignore Ancestry Hints? with over 296 views.
