Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1641 Birth Record for Samual Smith (1641-1691) in Dedham, Mass.

It's Treasure Chest Tuesday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1641 birth record of Samual Smith in the Dedham, Massachusetts town record book:

The Samual Smith birth record is the 2nd from the bottom on the left-hand page:

The transcription of this record is:

"Samual the son of Henry & Elizabeth Smith

was borne the 13 of the 8 mo [1641]"

The source citation for this record is:

Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988, indexed database and digital image, Ancestry.com (https://www.ancestry.com), "Dedham births, Marriages, Deaths," no page number (image 3 of 1916), Samual Smith birth entry, 13 October 1641, son of Henry and Elizabeth Smith.

This is probably an Original Source record for the birth of Samuel Smith.   It is Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth date, place, parents names and the name of Samual.

Samuel Smith (1641-1691) is my 7th great-grandfather, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (--?--) Smith. He married (1) Elizabeth Turner (1647-1676) and they had three children.  He married (2) Sarah (Clark) Bowers (1651-1704), and they had seven children.  I am descended through their son, Henry Smith (1680-1743) and their daughter, Abigail Smith (1686-1726).
