Tombstone Tuesday -- Mary Church (1640-1710) Buried in Little Compton, Rhode Island

I have collected a number of gravestone photographs from my own camera and from Find A Grave memorials over many years, and thought I would share them one at a time for Tombstone Tuesday.

Here is the gravestone of my 8th great-grandmother, Mary (Tucker) Church (1640-1710) in Old Commons Burial Ground in Little Compton, Rhode Island:

The inscription from the photograph is:

HERE LYETH Ye BODY

JOSEPH CHURCH ESQR
AGED 69 YEARS
& DECEST MARCH
Ye 21 1710

Joseph Church (1638-1711) and Mary Tucker (1640-1710)
are my 8th great-grandparents.   Samuel was the son of Richard and Elizabeth (Warren) Church, and Mary was the daughter of John and Ann (--?--) Tucker.  They married in 1660 in Hingham, Mass., and had 10 children, including Deborah Church (1677-1752), my 7th great-grandmother, who married Samuel Gray (1681-1712) in 1699.
