Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1664 Birth of Joseph Clarke in Medfield, Massachusetts

It's Treasure Chest Tuesday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1664 birth record of Joseph Clarke in the Medfield, Massachusetts town vital record book:

The birth record is 12th entry of the CLARKE entries on this page:

The transcription of this record is:

"[CLARKE] Joseph, s. Joseph and Mary, June 14, 1664."

The source citation for this record is:

Vital Records of Medfield, Massachusetts to the Year 1850 (Boston, Mass. : New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1903), Births, page 40, Joseph Clarke entry, 14 June 1674.

This is a Derivative Source record for the birth of JosephClarke. It is Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth date and place, and the name Joseph Clarke and her parents' names. The original record is probably a Medfield town record that has been lost over the centuries.

Joseph Clark (1664-1731) married Mary Wight (1667-1705) in 1686 in Medfield; she was the daughter of Thomas and Mehitable (Cheney) Wight of Medfield, Massachusetts.  Joseph was the son of of Ephraim and Mary (Bullen) Clarke of Medfield. Joseph and Mary (Wight) Clarke are my 7th great-grandparents, through their daughter Hephzibah Clark (1699-1791) who married Timothy Hamant (1699-1774) in 1727.
