It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.
The treasure today is the 1678 birth entry for Jonas Prescott in the Groton, Massachusetts town vital records book:The birth entry is the first from the top of the page:The birth record transcription is:
"PRESCOTT, Jonas, s. Capt. Jonas and Marey, Oct. 26, 1678"
The source citation for this record is:
Vital Records of Groton, Massachusetts to the End of the Year 1849 (Salem, Mass. : The Essex Institute, 1926-1927), Two volumes, Births, page 191, Jonas Prescott entry, 26 October 1678.
This is an abstract from a copied town record book for Groton, Massachusetts, so it is a Derivative Source with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of Jonas Prescott and his parents first names.
Jonas Prescott (1678-1750) was the son of Jonas and Mary (Loker) Prescott of Groton, Massachusetts. He married Thankful Wheeler (1682-1716) of Lancaster on 5 October 1699 in Concord, Massachusetts.
Jonas and Thankful (Wheeler) Prescott are my 7th great-grandparents, through their son Jonas Prescott (1703-1784) who married Elizabeth Harwood (1701-1739) on 7 March 1730/1 in Westford, Massachusetts.
