Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 1 March 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society General Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom with 35 attendees (including 4 guests).   CVGS member John Finch presented "The DNA Dynamic" highlighting his adventures in learning about and using autosomal DNA.

2)  Attended three days of RootsTech Connect 2021.  Watched several keynotes - Henry Louis Gates, Crista Cowan and Steve Rockwood, plus the song contestants.  Attended about 20 genealogy sessions.  Chatted a bit in the class and user-created chats.  Participated in three parties - the Desktop Diner on Zoom, the Cnnections Experiement on Facebook Live, and DearMyrtle's After-Party on Zoom.  Checked Relatives at RootsTech frequently and ended up with over 107,000.  Wrote blog posts about my experiences in:
3)  Attended today's Mondays With Myrt webinar and we discussed RootsTech Connect 2021 conference experiences, Kathy Meade's experiences as an exhibitor, Relatives at RootsTech, closed captioning and translation, and new features Bright Branches and Goldie May.

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandfather #582 Nayjaniel Harwood (1669-1751) of Concord and Chelmsford, Massachusetts. for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

6)  AncestryDNA added 118 new DNA matches this past week, with one new ThruLines, and  MyHeritage added 100 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to 2 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors, and added 2 ThruLines to RootsMagic.

7)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 40,785 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 135).

8)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 61,952 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 134), and 133,747 source citations (up 258).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 245 profiles, and I resolved 1,205 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 148,535 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

9)  Wrote 25 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which three were a press release.  The most viewed post last week was "RootsTech Connect 2021 Genealogy Blog Compendium - Updated" with over 542 views.

10)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much in Week 48 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy, eating, sleeping, cleaning, cooking, and a little yard work.
