 It's time for another edition of "Carringers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Carringer (my mother's maiden surname) that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Palm Beach Post [West Palm Beach, Fla.] newspaper dated 6 January 1966:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary provides a death date and place, an age, the names of his wife and children, and some information about his occupation or associations.

James Raymond Carringer (1886-1966) was born 13 December 1886 in Olean, New York to Wilbert H. and Mary M. (Lundy) Carringer.  He married (1) on 3 July 1909 to Roberta Loughlin (1888-1958) in St. Louis, Missouri.  They had two children:

*  Mary Virginia Carringer (1910-1977), married 1930 John Joseph Pfaff (1910-1975).
*  James Raymond Carringer (1917-1943).

He married (2) on 20 September 1932 to Margaret J. Hauck (1901-1974) in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  They had one child:

*  Donald Wilbert Carringer (1936-2005), married 1959 Nancy Ann Beekman (1938-????).

I am a second cousin twice removed to  James Raymond Carringer.  Our common ancestors are my 3rd great-grandparents Henry Carringer (1800-1879) and Sarah Feather (1804-1848).

There are hundreds of Carringer "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person works in industry and dies away from home.  I am glad that I can honor James Raymond Carringer today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.

Disclosure:  I have a complimentary subscription to Newspapers.com and have used it extensively to find articles about my ancestral and one-name families.
