Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 12 July 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past two weeks:

1)  Hosted the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Board Meeting in a Zoom Meeting last Wednesday, and reported on the Newsletter, Research Group meeting, and DNA Interest Group meeting.

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical society (SDGS) meeting on Saturday, with Christine Cohen as the speaker.  Her two presentations were "Indexes Are the Key To Unlocking the Records" and "The Basics of Probates."

3)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandfather #610 Edmund Rice (1663-1726)  for my 52 Ancestors post on Friday, 25 June.

5)  AncestryDNA added 42 new DNA matches this past week, with 3 new ThruLines and  MyHeritage added 20 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to 3 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors, and added 3 ThruLines to RootsMagic.

6)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 43,163 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 18).

7)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 64,300 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 39), and 139.663 source citations (up 183).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree one time the past week updating 92 profiles, and I resolved 603 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 153,771 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

8)  Wrote 14 Genea-Musings blog posts the past week, of which two were a press release.  The most viewed post the past two weeks was Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1692 Marriage of Edmund Rice and Ruth Parker in Marlborough, Massachusetts with over 331 views.

9)  I bought a new Dell All-in-One C5400 desktop computer on Tuesday last week at Costco, brought it home and set it up, and had most of my software and genealogy files up and running on Thursday.

10)  I am still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 69 of COVID-19 isolation.  Linda is still at the convalescent hospital (12 days now) and has made little progress with physical therapy for her left hip and leg - it hurts to move it.  I have visited every day but only for 30 minutes out in the patio, although I did see the PT/OT folks twice.  I went to church on Sunday and saw many friends of ours.  The Padres season continues, and I went to the Saturday game with the Rockies and saw my brother Scott and his family;  the Padres are now 53-40 (3-4 the past week) and have more injuries.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, and a little yard work.
