Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 6 December 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1) Hosted the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Board Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom.  Presented information about the newsletter, research group and DNA group.  Wrote, edited, and emailed the December 2021 issue of the CVGS "Family History Gazette" newsletter to the society members.
2)  Attended the SDGS DNA Interest Group meeting on Saturday in a Zoom meeting.  Colin Whitney presented three DNA case studies from his research that covered many of the methods used to solve them.

3) Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt Zoom webinar. We discussed the 1950 U.S. Census release in April, my Italian Rabbit Hole post, Paul Chiddicks Memories post, Becky's Facebook post about stories, more stories from the whole panel, Frank's blog post about a passenger list record, Diana's post on Find A Grave Volunteers Facebook page, Judy Russell's post about DNA thank yous, nd more.

6) AncestryDNA added 48 new DNA matches this past week, with no new ThruLines, and MyHeritage added 10 new DNA matches. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

7)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 46,150 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 75).

8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 67,481 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 45 from last week), and 143,515 source citations (up 22). I TreeShared 144 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 1,233 Ancestry Hints. My current Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 23,644 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.  Resolved 40 MyHeritage record matches also.

9) Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts the past week, of which four were a press release. The most viewed post the past week was
Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Which Ancestor(s) Are At The Top of Your Research List? with over 628 views.

10) I am still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 90 of COVID-19 semi-isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day - we play Uno and she wins about half the time.  Linda's brother and wife came to visit us and celebrated Linda's birthday on Friday with ice cream and gifts (photos on Facebook).  Finally started the Long Term Care application for Linda's care.  The Aztecs lost and the Chargers won their games.  I'm feeling better, but am watching my diet, sleep and wellbeing more.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and a little yard work.
