It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.
This week's entry is from the Hartford [Conn.] Courant newspaper dated 3 July 1960: The transcription of the article is:
"Mrs. Seaver Dies; Tapestry Artist
"Mrs. Annie Voll Seaver, 95, widow of William Seaver, and a local artist, died Friday night at a convalescent home.
"She was born in Boston and lived in Hartford for about 45 years. She was a past president of the Daughters of the Grand Army. She was a tapestry artist and was awarded several blue-ribbon prizes for her work.
"She leaves two grandsons, John Seaver of Alexandria, Va. and Robert Hallett of Hartsdale, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Miss Barbara Hallett of Worcester, Mass.; and three great-grandchildren. Private funeral services will be held at the Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home, 233 Washington St. Cremation will be in Springfield, Mass. There will be no calling hours."

This obituary provides the name, age, approximate death date and place, spouse's name, grandchildren names, spouse's names, and some occupation and associations information. But no names of her children for some reason.
Annie Louise Voll (1864-1960) was born in March 1964 in Boston, Massachusetts. She married William Seaver (1861-1938) on 8 October 1884 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the son of John Collidge and Ann M. (Crane) Seaver. They had two children:
* Horace Seaver (1887-1945), married 1921 Ethel M. Van Vliet (1892-1934).
* Ella F. Seaver (1890-1929), married 1912 Frank Howard Hallett (1887-1956).
William Seaver (1861-1938) is my 7th cousin 3 times removed. Our common Seaver ancestor is Robert Seaver (1608-1683) of Roxbury, Massachusetts.
There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them. Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person's obituary provides interesting information. I am glad that I can honor Annie Louise (Voll) Seaver today.
You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
