Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.
My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.
Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:
* Why They're Only Clues by Judy G. Russell on The Legal Genealogist.
* Researching at The National Library of Ireland by Donna Moughty on Irish Family Roots.
* Using Social Media For Genealogists by Minnie Sheridan on THE Genealogy Show.
* Maps – Placing the Amos Gorrell’s Farm on a Map by Lisa Gorrell on My Trails Into the Past.
* Is Ancestry.com Worth the Money for Your Genealogy Research? by Will Moneymaker on Ancestral Findings.
* Who Gets to Write History? Who Are We Keeping Out? by Kelly Wheaton on Wheaton Wood.
* Unearth Genealogy Treasures With PERSI: Part 3 by Julie Tarr on Genealogy In Action.
* PERSI: Tips for Getting Copies of Articles by Cari Taplin on Genealogy Pants.
* 33 Things You Can Find in City Directories and Where to Find Online City Directories by Kenneth Marks on The Ancestor Hunt.
* Library and Archives Canada’s new My Account expected to help online researchers by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.
* Job's Daughters by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.
* Looking Back: The 1950 U.S. Federal Census is Coming Soon! by Sarah Gutmann on Legacy Tree Genealogists.
* Part 2: Pennsylvania Germans: Journey to a New Land by Alice Childs on Family Locket.
Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:
