Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 28 March 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Watched the History for Ukraine 24-hour fund-raising event off and on on Saturday, and enjoyed all of the presentations I saw.  The English history talks were fascinating looks at famous historical persons (e.g., Henry I, Mary Queen of Scots, etc.) and the family history stories told by Judy Russell, Josh Taylor and others were interesting.  I didn't see them all because life on Saturday is often busy.

2)  Served as a panelist on today's Mondays With Myrt webinar.  We discussed the new 1950 U.S. Census Finder on Ancestry,  Liv's ancestor story, my blog post about Peter Johonnot Seaver, which led into discussions about doing genealogical research, using Elizabeth Shown Mills website and research examples as models for doing it well.

3)  Published a genealogy biography of  #308 John Bathrick (1702-1769) of Cambridge and Arlington, Massachusetts for the 52 Ancestors series.

4) Transcribed a probate record - 1851 Will of Daniel Seaver (1767-1851) of Maryland, Otsego County, New York - for the Amanuensis Monday series.

5)  Added about 20 of my 52 Ancestors biographies as Life Stories to ancestors in FamilySearch Family Tree, and still have more to do.

6) AncestryDNA now has 39,618 DNA matches (up 33) this past week, with no new ThruLines. MyHeritageDNA now has 10,266 DNA matches (up 18), with no new Theories. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe. Researched and added notes for 8 AncestryDNA matches and added no  ThruLines to RootsMagic.

7)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 47,924 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 71).

8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 69,472 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 91 from last week), and 144,544 source citations (up 79). I TreeShared 26 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 877  Ancestry Hints. My current Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 24,753 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

9) Wrote 16 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Exploring the 1950 U.S. Census ED Finder Tool on Ancestry.com - Updated  with over 209 views.

10) I am still fine here at the Genea-Cave, hunkered down and not going out much after Week 106 of COVID-19 semi-isolation. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visit her for an hour every day - we usually play Uno and she wins about half the time.  I went to church for Maggie's 107th birthday and hugged a lot of folks.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. I watched the Ukraine news  occasionally.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing (mainly) genealogy, plus eating, sleeping, laundry, cleaning, cooking, watching TV news and sports, reading books, napping, and no yard work.  The hillside tree cleanup is still not finished.
