Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 26 September 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society DNA Interest Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom with 28 in attendance.  I reviewed the genetic genealogy news for the last month, and made a presentation on the basics of the Genetic Affairs AutoCluster feature.

2)  Published a genealogy biography for the 52 Ancestors series for 7th great-grandfather  #718 Thomas Wate (1683-a1743) of Dartmouth, Massachusetts and East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

3) Transcribed a probate record document - 1848 Petition of the widow of Aaron Seaver of Gardner, Massachusetts - for the Amanuensis Monday series.

4)  Downloaded the Genetic Affairs AutoClusters report for my 23andMe, FamilyTreeDNA and MyHeritageDNA matches.  The FamilyTreeDNA analysis did not work again.  Here is my 23andMe AutoCluster chart with 39 clusters:

I wrote up the AutoCluster process and results in Rabbit Holes With Randy - Genetic Affairs AutoClusters.

5) AncestryDNA now has 40,932 DNA matches (up 21 from 19 September) for me today, with four new ThruLines.  MyHeritageDNA now has 10,733 DNA matches (up 12 from 19 September) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added notes to 4 AncestryDNA matches, but the ThruLines were off for three of them.

6)  There was one session working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 48,451 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 15).

7) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 70,051 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 9 from 19 September), and 145,388  source citations (up 18). I TreeShared no new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 382  Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 175,426 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.  My MyHeritage family trees have 200,305 Record Matches in 286 sources and I work on them occasionally.

8) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which three were a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Added and Updated Ancestry.com Record Collections - Week of 17 to 23 September 2022 with over 135 views.

9)  Real life:  This is week 133 since COVID restrictions started.  My recovery from the 30 May heart bypass surgery is (I hope)  complete.  I am still really tired every day, mainly due to lack of sleep, take at least two naps each day. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited her five times last week.   I went grocery shopping on Monday and Friday.   We finally got the hillside brush removed the day before the letter from the Fire Department came demanding removal.  I watched the Padres games every day and we are now 85-68 on the season (4-2 last week).  I watched the SDSU Aztecs game on Saturday, and we won 17-14 over Toledo.  I watched the Chargers/Jaguars game on Sunday - we lost 38-10.
