Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 19 December 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society in-person Holiday Party on Wednesday at the  Bonita Museum with about 22 in attendance.   We had finger foods (fruit, veggies, sandwiches, dessert), installed our new officers, and lots of conversation.

2)  Watched the Family Tree Webinar "Looking Back & Peeking Ahead: 2022 at MyHeritage" by Daniel Horowitz.  It was light on "peeking ahead."

3)  Transcribed a probate record for Amanuensis Monday -- 1863 Will of Persis Seaver (1790-1872) of Sterling, Massachusetts.

4)  Wrote a genealogical sketch for #730 7th great-grandfather Thomas Chase (1654-1734) for the 52 Ancestors series.

5) AncestryDNA now has 41,455 DNA matches (up 45 from 12 December) for me today, with no new ThruLines.   MyHeritageDNA now has 10,900 DNA matches (up 5 from 12 December) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

6)  Occasionally matched RootsMagic profiles to FamilySearch Family Tree.  I have matched 48,601 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 32).

7) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 70,152 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 13 since 12 December), and 145,479  source citations (up 27). I TreeShared 50 new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 399  Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 172,511 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.  My MyHeritage family trees have 162,461 Record Matches in 285 sources and I work on them occasionally.

8) Wrote 13 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which one was a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Linda, Randy and Our Five Grands  -- Post 746 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday with over  209 views.  Genea-Musings had about 11,200 views last week.

9)  Real life:  This is week 145 since COVID restrictions started.   I tested negative in a home test on Sunday, 11 December and resumed my "real life" on Wednesday.  Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited 3 times last week.  My Chargers beat Tennessee 17-14 on Sunday, so are now 8-6 on the season.

I can't name any of my 7th g-grandparents, let alone write a sketch. How awesome that you've got enough info to write a bio! Have a happy holiday season.
