Seavers in the News -- Dudley Seaver Dies in Rochester, New York in 1970

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Rochester [N.Y.] Democrat an Chronicle newspaper dated 3 April  1970, page 46:

The transcription of the article is:

"Seaver, Dudley

This obituary identifies his name, residence, date of death, sons, daughters and siblings names, but not employment or association information.

Orville Dudley "Orvie" Seaver (1902-1970 was born 3 October 1902 in Hallsport, New York, the son of Harold Andrew and Lytie Genevra (Perkins) Seaver.  He died 1 April 1970 in Rochester, New York.  He married Ruth Dorothy Knapp (1916-1957) in about 1935, probably in New York.  They had five children:

*  Barbara Gale Truman Seaver (1937-????), married 1957 Robert D, Halbakken (1934-2006)
*  Donna Leigh Seaver (1939-????), married 1969 Kenneth Myron Haney (1941-????).
*  Cynthia Ruth Seaver (1942-2008), married 1961 Elmer L. Armstrong (1940-????).
*  John Howard Seaver (1943-2006), married about 1962 Patricia Ann Ross.
*  Charles Dudley Seaver (1948-1998), married Charlotte T. --?--.

Orville Dudley Seaver is my 6th cousin twice removed, with common Seaver ancestors of 7th great-grandfather Joseph Seaver (1672-1754).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a fairly sparse obituary. I am glad that I can honor Orville Dudley Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
