Seavers in the News -- Olivia (Seaver) Stakel Dies in 1971 in Batavia, New York

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle newspaper dated 9 August 1971, page 35:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary identifies her name, residence, date and place of death,  names of her husband, two children and two siblings, with education and association information.

Olivia Margaret Seaver (1885-1971) was born 22 February 1885 in Byron, New York, the daughter of Charles Alexander and Jennie Jane (Beecher) Seaver.  She died 8 August 1971 in Batavia, New York.  She married Wallace Gilbert Stakel (1883-1944) on 9 January 1908 in Batavia.  They had two children:

*  Wallace John Stakel (1909-1989), married 1934 Gertrude Maria Nobles (1902-1987).

*  Frederick Charles Stakel (1911-1993), married 1939 Jean Marjorie Barben (1914-1999).

I am an 8th cousin twice removed to Olivia (Seaver) Stakel.  Our common Seaver ancestor is 9th great-grandfather Robert Seaver (1608-1683).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a fairly complete obituary. I am glad that I can honor Olivia (Seaver) Stakel  today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
