Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 14 to 20 May 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Ancestry Updates: New Comments Activity and Icon Feature! by Diane Henriks on Who Wears the Genes In Your Family?

*  My Largest Unidentified Match at FTDNA by Joel Hartley on Hartley DNA and Genealogy.

*  Does the DNA Come from the MRCA Father or Mother? by Jim Bartlett on Segment-ology.

*  Who Did You Inherit Your Traits From? by DiAnn Iamarino Ohana on Fortify Your Family Tree.

*  Genealogy Tip: Gravestone Porcelain Photos by Gena Philibert-Ortega on GenealogyBank Blog.

*  What Are ICD Codes On Death Certificates? Can they be helpful to you? by Diane Gould Hall on Michigan Family Trails.

*  An Expert’s Secrets For German Genealogy Research by Jessica Taylor on Legacy Tree Genealogists.

*  Why Do Genealogy? (part 1) by Jessica Edwards on GenealogyBank Blog.

Comparing DNA Results – Different Tests at the Same Testing Company by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

*  Do All Redheads Have Irish Ancestry by Lauren on Gene Journeys.

*  A Last Will Becomes a Family Tree Roadmap by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

*   Rules? We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Rules by Leah Larkin on The DNA Geek.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - May 20, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Randy, it was a delight to see you pop on my blog the other day and leave a comment! Thanks for referring to your series of a few years ago; very helpful. Thanks so much for including me in this week's "Best of."
