Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1718 Marriage of Sampson Underhill and Elizabeth Ambruss in Salisbury, Massachusetts

I looked in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings for Treasure Chest Thursday.

The treasure today is the 1718 marriage record of Sampson Underhill and Elizabeth Ambruss in Salisbury, Massachusetts:

The marriage record is the only entry in the Underhill section:

The transcription of this marriage record is:

"UNDERHILL, Sampson, and Elizabeth Ambruss, Jan. 15, 1717-18.  N.CT. BK.*"

The source citation for this marriage record is:

Topsfield Historical Society, Vital Records of Salisbury, Massachusetts, to the End of the Year 1849 (Topsfield, Mass. : Topsfield Historical Society, 1915), Marriages, page 503, Sampson Underhill and Elizabeth Ambrose entry, 15 January 1717/8.

This record is a Derivative Source, with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the marriage of Sampson Underhill and Elizabeth Ambruss on 15 January 1717/8.  The original record is probably in a Salisbury town record book that may no longer be available.

Sampson Underhill (1692-1732) was born in about 1692 in England; his parents are not known.  He died before 27 March 1732 in Chester, New Hampshire when his estate was administered.  He married Elizabeth Ambruss/Ambrose (1698-1782), the daughter of Nathaniel and Sarah (Eastman) Ambrose, on 15 January 1717/8 in Salisbury, Massachusetts.
Sampson and Elizabeth (Ambrose) Underhill are my 7th great-grandparents.  I am descended through their son John Underhill (1720-1793) who married Joanna Healey (1719-1809) on 21 October 1741 in Chester, New Hampshire.
