Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 27 August to 2 September 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Fact or Fiction? A Revolutionary War soldier talked to a boy, who became a Civil War soldier by Kelly Wheaton on Wheaton Wood.

*  A Family Auction One Hundred Years Ago Today by Pamela Athearn Filbert on Vita Brevis.

*  How To Keep Your Matches Organized by Ellen Thompson-Jennings on Hound on the Hunt.

*  A Sister's Death Certificate Furthers Ancestor's Research by Brenda Leyndyke on Journey to the Past.

*  Introducing Y-DNA Haplogroups for Family Finder Customers by Katy Rowe on FamilyTreeDNA Blog.

*  Discover the Intriguing Paternal Lineage of Michael Jackson: Unraveling His Ancestral Roots by Sherman McRea on FamilyTreeDNA Blog.

*  Three What are the Odds? (WATO) improvements by Jonny Perl on DNA Painter Blog.

*  Essential Guide to Vital Records Research in Pennsylvania by Denys Allen on PA Ancestors.

*  Quick Tips and Record-Breaking Moments by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

*  Using Adobe Photoshop BETA, Adobe Phoshop and MyHeritage.com and Reimagine to repair a photo by James Tanner on Genealogy's Star.

*  AncestryDNA Plus: A New DNA Subscription Tier by Leah Larkin on The DNA Geek.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 1st Sept 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - September 2, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
