Seavers in the News -- Fred P. Seaver Sr. Dies in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1975

 Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Poughkeepsie [N.Y.} Journal  newspaper dated 2 June 1975, page 20:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary is very complete although it is light on his occupation and possible military service.  It even provides the maiden name of his wife.

Frederick Pettigrove Seaver (1902-1975) was born 16 May 1902 in Grafton, New Hampshire, the son of Edward Dudley and Clara Belle (Teakles) Seaver.  He died 1 June 1975 in Poughkeepsie, New York.  He married Grace Elizabeth Clark (1908-2000) on 22 June 1929 in Naugatuck, Connecticut.  They had four children:

*  Frederick Pettigrove Seaver (1931-2020), married Sakeo Matsuo (1928-????).
*  Leonard Thompson Seaver (1932-2013), married (1) 1951 Grace Adelaide Birdsall (1933-2006); (2) 1965 Leona Callander (1933-????).
*  Samuel Edward Seaver (1933-1990), married Patricia Ann Fertig (1936-2009).
*  Cynthia Grace Seaver (1934-2014), married (1) 1954 Roy Henry Weygant (1926-1967); (2) 1967 Bernard Charles Camasi (1928-1984).

Frederick Pettigrove Seaver (1902-1975) is my 8th cousin twice removed, with Robert Seaver (1608-1683) as our most recent Seaver common ancestor.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has an excellent obituary with much family information I am glad that I can honor Frederick Pettigrove Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
