Great-Grandaunt Matie and May -- Post 794 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I can't help it, I can't do a wordless post! This is one of my favorite photographs:

This is a 1913 photograph of an adult woman, Mary Ann "Matie" (Smith) (Chenery) (Cramer) Morrill (1864-1922), the daughter of Devier J. Lamphier and Abbie A. (Vaux) Smith and sister of my great-grandmother, Abbey Ardell "Della" (Smith) Carringer, and my great-grandaunt.  A note I have says that the child in the photo is "May," who looks like she is about 6-9 years old in the photograph.  I don't know positively who May is - she may be Maybelle Claire Smith (1902-1964), the daughter of Matie's brother, David D. Smith (1863-1920), and therefore a niece of Matie;  or she may be a neighbor's child, or a friend's child.  While the handwriting says this is "Mrs. J.C. Cramer, she didn't marry Joseph C. Cramer (1844-1902) until 1919.  I think the handwriting on the photo is that of my great-grandmother Della Carringer, and was inscribed sometime after 1920. The 1913 label on the photo may be wrong.

I colorized the black and white photo using the MyHeritage tools.

This photograph is all part of our family history.
