Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 5 to 11 November 2023

Scores of genealogy and family history bloggers write hundreds of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  Back to the Ancestral Roots: A Story of Native American Heritage Month on the Ancestry Blog.

*  The Guide to Tracing Your Ancestors’ Military Service by Maddy on Family Wise.

*  How to Adapt Old Family Diaries, Journals and Letters for Modern Audiences by Laura Hedgecock on Family Tree Magazine.

*  Writing a Family History Story Using Artificial Intelligence and Part Two by Brenda Leyndyke on Journey to the Past.

*  How to Get Useful Answers to Your Genealogy Questions by DiAnn Iamarino Ohana on Fortify Your Family Tree.

*  Looking More Closely at DNA Shared Matches by Angela Napolitano on Vita Brevis.

DNA Doesn’t Lie, but It Sometimes Speaks in Riddles by Leah Larkin on The DNA Geek.

Locating Military Gravestones & Burials by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  3 Websites to Learn More About Preserving Your Family Records by Gena Philibert-Ortega on Legacy News.

*  University Libraries as Genealogy Research Goldmines: Academic Archives for Family History by Beccy Martin on Legacy Tree Genealogists.

*  FamilyTreeDNA's 15th International Conference on Genetic Genealogy by Michael Kirk on Family Sleuther.

*  The Lesser Known Story of Napoleon’s American Legacy by Elizabeth Zetland on MyHeritage Blog.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

*  Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

*  Friday Fossicking 10th Nov 2023 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

*  This Week's Creme de la  Creme - November 11, 2023 by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
