Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.
1) Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) Research Group Meeting on Wednesday with 20 attendees. I reported on the Full-Text Search expansion to Canada and UK/Ireland, RootsTech 2025 registration, MyHeritage acquisition of MesAieux, free Webtember videos, my Ask AI work and poems/songs,
2) Attended most of the San Diego Genealogical Society Fall Seminar with Judy G. Russell as the speaker on Runaway Black Laws, Prohibition Records, Inventing America, and Prison Records.
3) Watched several webinars on Family Tree Webinars, including Andrew Redfern's Family History and AI talk, Roberta Estes's 6 Ways to Figure How We're Related, Lisa Lisson's Bridging Generations, and two recent Elizabeth Shown Mills presentations.
4) Participated in Mondays With Myrt last Monday (9 September), and we discussed Yvette's Transkribus project, archiving documents, calendar differences, FamilySearch collections, and more.
5) Presented "Randy's Top Ten Genealogy Search Tips" to the Temecula Valley Genealogical Society on Tuesday in a hybrid Zoom meeting.
6) Transcribed the 1877 Mortgage Discharge of D. Delos Carder to James A. Kemp for Land in Norfolk County, Ontario for the Amanuensis Monday theme.
15) Wrote 21 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which one was a press release. The most viewed post last week was "Randy's Roots" - A Genealogy Poem and Song Created by Artificial Intelligence with over 308 views. Genea-Musings had about 238,000 page views last week and over 995,000 views for the past month.
