Olive F. Oatley was born 21 January 1836 in East Killingly, Windham County, Connecticut, the 6th daughter and 13th child (out of 14) of Jonathan and Amy (Champlin) Oatley.[1-3]
In the 1850 United States Census, the Jonathan Oatley family resided in Killingly, Windham County, Connecticut.[4] The household included:
- Jonathan Oatley - age 59, male, stone cutter, born S. Kingston RI
- Amey Oatley -- age 52, female, born S. Kingston RI
- Olive Oatley -- age 14, female, born Killingly CT
Olive F. Oatley married Harris Olney Burton on 19 April 1856 in East Killingly, Windham County, Connecticut.[5] He was born 17 March 1836 in Foster, Providence County, Rhode Island, the son of Elliott Lee and Bernice (Williams) Burton. They had two children:
- Walter Franklin Burton, born 7 May 1858, Killingly, Windham, Connecticut; married Ellen Miranda Kies, 1875, Windham, Connecticut; died 18 February 1920, Putnam, Windham, Connecticut.
- Elizabeth A. Burton, born 14 February 1865 in Killingly, Windham, Connecticut; died 25 April 1865, Killingly, Windham County, Connecticut.
In the 1860 United States Census, the Harris Burton family resided in Warren, Bristol County, Rhode Island. [6] The household included:
- Harris O. Burton - age 24, male, Cotton Mill worker, born R.I.
- Olive F. Burton - age 24, female, born Conn.
- Walter F. Burton - age 2, male, born Conn.
In the 1870 United States Census, the Harris Burton family resided in Killingly, Windham County, Connecticut.[7] The household included:
- Harris O. Burton - age 34, male, white, Works in Cotton Mill, personal property of $175, born Rhode Island
- Olive F. Burton - age 34, female, white, Keeping house, born Conn.
- Walter F. Burton - age 12, male, white, At School, born Conn.
In the 1880 United States Census, the Harris Burton family resided in Killingly, Windham County, Connecticut.[8] The household included:
- Harris O. Burton - white, male, age 44, married, Works in Cotton Mill, Born Rhode Island, father born R.I., mother born R.I.
- Olive Burton - white, female, age 43, Wife, married, Keeping house, born Connecticut, father born R.I., mother born R.I.
- Walter Burton - white, male, age 22, Son, married, Works in Woolen Mill, born Connecticut, father born R.I., mother born Conn.
- Ellen Burton - white, female, age 21, Daughter-in-law, married, At home, born Conn., father born Conn., mother born Conn.
- Jennie Burton - white, female, age 4, Granddaughter, single, born Connecticut, father born Conn., mother born Conn.
Olive E. (Oatley) Burton died 9 February 1884 in East Killingly, Windham County, Connecticut.[1-3] She is buried in Bartlett Cemetery #1 in East Killingly with her husband.[3]
Harris Olney Burton died 12 October 1897 in East Killingly, and is buried with Olive in Bartlett Cemetery #1 in East Killingly.
