Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week (ending Sunday, 20 July 2025).
1) Moderated and presented the 16 July DNA Interest Group meeting of the Chula Vista Genealogical Society with 14 in attendance. Reported on the AncestryDNA Cluster feature, the 23andMe Sale, and Family Locket YouTube videos.
2) Transcribed the 1828 Land Patent of Martin Carringer in Holmes County, Ohio from President John Quincy Adams with help finding it and transcrbing it from FamilySearch Full-Text Search.
3) Wrote a genealogical sketch for 2nd Great-GrandAunt Hannah Hazel (Oatley) Chase (1832-1907) of New England for the 52 Relatives theme.
4) Curated genealogy-related articles to keep myself and my readers updated on the genealogy world in:
5) Wrote two "ABC Biographies" using my AI-assisted "Ancestor Biography Creation" process and an AI-assisted memoir, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack, in:
- ABC Biography of #37 Hannah (Sawtell) Hildreth (1789-1857) Of New England
- ABC Biography of #38 Lambert Brigham (1794-1834) Of Massachusetts
- Devier J. Smith's Life Memories - An AI-Assisted Memoir
6) Wrote an AI-assisted short story about the life of my great-grandparents - "Austin and Della Life Stories - Part 7: The Golden Years" - AI-Assisted Historical Fiction, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack..
7) Requested free AI tools to tell me about these genealogy and family history subjects, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack:

8) Requested free AI tools to create a poem, song lyrics and a podcast about my 3rd great-grandfather, Jonathan Oatley (1790-1872) and had Suno.com create a song using the lyrics. Posted the poem created by X Grok 3, the song lyrics created by Anthropic Claude 4, the Suno song link, and the ContentLM podcast link in "Henry Carringer's Journey" -- A Family History Poem, Song and Podcast Created by Artificial Intelligence on Genea-Musings and Substack.

9) Posted some of my life memories on Genea-Musings and Substack - see Monday Memories - How I Met and Romanced Linda.
10) Experimented with Canva to create YouTube videos of the NotebookLM Podcasts with help from Marcia Philbrick. Resurrected my YouTube channel too. Added two videos to YouTube for the Isaac Seaver and Henry Carringer podcasts. Tried using Zoom to create a video reviewing Isaac Seaver's ABC Biography, reading the poem, and playing the song, but the song did not go well - maybe I can use Canva for the song?
11) My AncestryDNA now has 49,532 DNA matches (up 40 from 13 July) with 2,100 "close" matches today (up 1), with no new ThruLines. Added Notes to 2 Matches, and added no new DNA match lines to RootsMagic. MyHeritageDNA now has 13,658 DNA matches (up 13 from 13 July) for me. Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.
12) Searched for more records of ancestral families on Ancestry, FamilySearch and MyHeritage, downloaded record images to my digital file folders, and added research notes, events and sources to RootsMagic profiles. My RootsMagic family tree now has 74,647 profiles (up 7 from last week) and 147,821 source citations (up 10).
13) Wrote 21 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which one was a press release. The most viewed post last week was Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Do Some FamilySearch Full-Text Searching with over 216 views. Genea-Musings had about 186,000 page views last week and over 1,099,000 views over the past month (lots of bots I fear).
14) Real life events: Visited Linda several days at her memory care facility and we played Uno. Went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. Still reading started Hot Springs by Stephen Hunter. The Padres season continues and I watched the All-Star game and three Padres games this week - they were 2-1 this past week (overall 54-45 now).
