Blake to Smith

Know all Men on these

presents that I Stephen Blake of Wrentham in the 

County of Suffolk within his Majestys Province of the 

Massachusetts Bay in New England Yeoman for & 

in Consideration of the just sum of Fifty Pounds

lawful money to me in hand paid before the delivery

hereof by Moses Smith of Walpole n the County & 

province aforesaid Yeoman Have Given Granted 

Bargained Sold and do by these presents Give Grant 

Bargain sell aliene and fully freely and absolutely 

Convey and Confirm unto him the said Moses Smith 

his heirs and Assigns forever a certain tract of Land 

part meadow and part Upland lying on the East Side

of Stop River so called containing as is supposed Six Acres

be the same more or less situated and lying in Wrentham 

aforesaid bounded on Stop River Westwardly North on 

land of Samuel Smith , East on Walpole line Southwardly 

on land of Thomas Barstow . To Have and to 

Hold the said granted and bargained premises together 

with all their Asesences free of all Incumbrances what-

sorever to him the said Moses Smith his heirs & Assigns as 

an absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee simple forever.

And the said Stephen Blake for myself my heirs Exrs &

Admons do Covenant and Engage the above demised premas to

to him the said Moses Smith his heirs and Assigns against

the lawful claims and Demands of any person or persons 

whatsoever forever hereafter to Warrant secure & Defend 

by these presents. In Witness whereof I do hereunto 

Set my hand & seal this fifth day of April Anno Domini 

one Thousand seven hundred & sixty five and in the fifth 

year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third

by the Grace of God of Great Britain & King &c - Stephen 

Blake and a seal . Signed Sealed and Delivered in presence 

of us Jacob Pond Sarah Pond.          Suffolk ss April 

5 1765  Then the within named Stephen Blake appearing 

acknowleged the within written Instrument to be his free 

act and Deed . Before me Jon'a. Whitney Justice of peace 

October 31 1765 Reced and accordingly Entred & Examined.

This is an image of a Derivative Source record (because it is a court clerk's record of the inventory with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the names of the parties and witnesses, and the dates of the deed execution and recording.  

Moses Smith (1732-1806) was born 2 April 1732 in Medfield, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the son of Henry and Ruth (Barber) Smith.  He married Patience Hamant (1735-1780), the daughter of Timothy and Hephzibah (Clark) Hamant, on 23 September 1762 in Medfield.  They had five children.

Moses and Patience (Hamant) Smith are my 5th great-grandparents, through their son Aaron Smith (1765-1841) who married Mercy Plimpton in 1795.
