Randy's Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 28 September 2025

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week (ending Sunday, 28 September 2025).

1)  Attended the monthly Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) General Meeting.  The program was Brian Rhinehart on Civil War Pensions.

2)  Transcribed the 1845 Deed of Isaan and Rosanna Lanfear Selling Land in Jefferson County, New York to Philander and Jesse Smith for $800.  I transcribed it with the help of FamilySearch Full-Text Search.

3) Curated genealogy-related articles to keep myself and my readers updated on the genealogy world in:

4)  Wrote two "ABC Biographies" using my AI-assisted "Ancestor Biography Creation" process, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack, in:
5)  Requested free AI tools to tell me about these genealogy and family history subjects, and posted them on Genea-Musings and Substack:
6)  Posted one of the AI-assisted memories of my ancestral home in the home's voice, based on my own memories, on Genea-Musings and Substack - see The Watchful House on 30th Street Remembers: "The Ping-Pong Tournament Years."

7)  Requested free AI tools to create a poem, song lyrics and a podcast about my 3rd great-grandfather, Abraham Kemp (1795-1881) and had Suno.com create a song using the lyrics.  Posted the poem created by X Grok 3, the song lyrics created by Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4, the Suno song link, and the ContentLM audio and video overview links in "Abraham's Story" -- Family History Poem, Song, Audio Overview and Video Overview Created by Artificial Intelligence on Genea-Musings and Substack.

8)  Added a number of the recent NotebookLM Videos to my YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@RandySeaver.

9)  My AncestryDNA now has 49,916 DNA matches (up 38 from 21 September) with 2,115 "close" matches today (up 1), with no new ThruLines.  Added Notes to 2 Matches, and added no new DNA match lines to RootsMagic.  MyHeritageDNA now has 13,791 DNA matches (up 22 from 21 September) for me.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

10)  Searched for more records of ancestral families on Ancestry, FamilySearch and MyHeritage, downloaded record images to my digital file folders, and added research notes, events and sources to RootsMagic profiles.  My RootsMagic family tree now has 74,732 profiles (up 3 from last week)  and 147,877 source citations (up 2).

11) Wrote 22 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which two were a press release. The most viewed post last week was The Watchful House on 30th Street Remembers: "The Ping-Pong Tournament Years" with over 210 views.  Genea-Musings had about 293,000 page views last week and over 1,268,000 views over the past month (lots of bots I fear).

12)  Real life events:  Visited Linda several days at her memory care facility and we played Uno and catch the beach ball out on the patio. Went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday. Finished reading Battle Mountain by C.J. Box and started reading The Third Bullet by Stephen Hunter.  The Padres regular season ended and I watched six Padres games - they were 5-1 this past week (overall 90-72 now).  My Padres are the #5 seed in the National League so will play Best of Three in Chicago this coming week. Watched the SDSU Aztecs game on Saturday and they won, so are now 3-1 on the season. Watched the Charger games on Sunday and they lost, so are now 3-1 on the season.
