#SCGS2016 Jamboree - Day 0

Linda and I took the 9:25 a.m. train out of San Diego, which was delayed 30 minutes, and arrived in Burbank at 1:45 p.m., about 50 minutes late.  It was a peaceful and scenic ride - I read the paper, checked my email and blogs and Facebook, and played some Sudoku on the tablet.

We checked into the Marriott, and walked over to the registration area and got my registration material, but it did not include the syllabus chit.  Linda volunteered to help on Friday morning.  We sat in the blogger's table for awhile, saw Tricia Stanard, and talked to Jean and Butch Hibben.  Back up to the room, and Linda went swimming, and I rested my eyes for awhile.  I also took this picture - the view from our room window towards the big pool between the buildings:

We went down for dinner at 5:15 p.m. at the Daily Grill, and saw Diane Hall and Debby Anderson from San Diego, Ron Arons and Gena Ortega.  Linda had a Cobb salad and I had fish and chips.  We headed over to the registration area again to try to get the syllabus - they said I could get one on Friday.

Back in the lobby area, we ran into a number of genea-folks headed to dinner, including Tom and Karen Jones, Elissa Powell, Paul Hawthorne, Steve Morse, Mark Olson, Schelly Dardashti, Kiara, Cyndi Ingle, Bruce and Laurie  Buzbee, Elyse Doerflinger, Richard Sherer, Elissa Powell, Paula Warren, Jill Morelli, Mary Roddy and Linda from Bellingham.  I'm sure I forgot someone - I'm sorry!

Update:  We went back to the room and watched the basketball game.  I wrote this post, then went back downstairs to the bar and had a fun conversation with Elyse, Kim Cotton, Jane Rollins and Susan Kitchens.  I checked in the lobby area, and there was a game going on with Lisa Alzo, Randy Whited, Drew Smith, Dave McDonald and Jennifer le Fiebre going on.

I forgot to take more pictures of all the famous people.  I'll try to do better.

Friday is the official start of Jamboree - I have my talk on Social Media at 10:30 a.m. in the Burbank room - y'all come if you can.  The Exhibit Hall will open at 1 p.m.  I think I'll go hear Tom Jones then and avoid the crowds in the Hall for the first hour.
