Amanuensis Monday - Post 322: Account for Estate of Henry Smith (1680-1743) of Medfield, Mass.

Genea-blogger John Newmark (who writes the excellent  TransylvanianDutch blog) started a Monday blog theme years ago called "Amanuensis Monday."  John offers this definition for "amanuensis:" 

"A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another."

The subject today is the 1743 account for the estate of Henry Smith (1680-1743) of Medfield, Sussex County, Massachusetts (starts near bottom of the right-hand page):



The transcription of this account is (transcribed line by line):

Suffolk Ss. The Accompt of Daniel Smith and Henry Smith
Excrs of the Testament of their Father Henry Smith late
of Medfield Husbandman deced Intestate.

The said accompants Charge thermselves with all and Singular the
Goods and Chattels of the said deced Specified in an Inventory
thereof by them Exhibited into the probate office for the County afores'd
on the 21'st October 1743. Amount to the sum of …..........                                    £604.  6. 4

so far as they have proceeded therein and produced Receipts
and Vouchers for the Several payments therein mentioned
which I do allow and Approve of                          J. Willard
