Seavers in the News - Augusta Seaver Dies in 1936

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a semi-regular feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Cattaraugus [N.Y.] Republican newspaper dated Wednesday, 15 January 1936:

The transcription of this article is:

"Mrs. Augusta Seaver Succumbs to Illness

"Mrs. Augusta Seaver, widow of William S. Seaver, died at the family home, 48 Academy street, Tuesday following an illness of the past few months.  She had been confined to her bed since Christmas.

"Mrs. Seaver was born in Meadville, Pa., and had lived in Salamanca the past 42 years.  She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal church, the Guild of the church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the church, and the Protected Home Circle.

"She leaves on daughter, Mrs. Amos J. Knorr of St. Marys, Pa.; who has been here several weeks because of her illness; three sons, Charles Seaver of Bliss street, Seldon Seaver of Buffalo and Robert Seaver, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Clifford Holmes of Meadville, Mrs. W.P. McMahon of Upper Darby, Pa., and Mrs. A.C. Terry of Detroit, Mich.; four brothers, William, Edward and Harry Hodge of Meadville and Frederick Hodge of Tonawanda; two grandchildren, Jack Seaver of Salamanca and David Seaver of Buffalo, and several nieces and nephews."

The source citation for this obituary is:

"Mrs. Augusta Seaver Succumbs to Illness," obituary, Cataraugus [N.Y] Republican,  Wednesday, 15, January 1936, page 5, column 3; NYS Historic Newspapers   (http://nyshistoricnewspapers.org/ : accessed 19 October 2017), Augusta Seaver obituary.

Augusta Trowbridge (Hodge) Seaver (1872-1936) married William Seldon Seaver (1866-1929) in 1891, and they had at least six children, four of whom are mentioned in the obituary.

My database did not have marriages for the two daughters.  I did not know which daughter married Amos J. Knorr.  The U.S. census and other records indicated that it was Florence Barbara (Seaver) Knorr (1910-1997), so now it does.  I did not have the grandson Jack in my database either, probably the son of Robert Seaver.

William Seldon Seaver (1866-1929) is not related to me to my knowledge.  His line goes back two generations to Daniel Seaver (1800-1880) for whom I don't have known parents.
