I just joined WikiTree in the last week.

My question is about uploading pdf documents. I have census and other documents in this format. I can upload them but I don't see a way that anyone can view them.

In the Help section it mentions that you can upload pdf documents but I didn't see anything more.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Steve

Hi Steve,

Welcome to WikiTree!

One limitation with PDFs is that we can't create thumbnail images of them. That is, to see the file you need to click and open it. You don't get the little preview like you do with images.

Another thing to consider is privacy controls. If you've uploaded the PDF to a profile that's public anyone can see it. If the profile is private only those on the Trusted List can see it.

I hope that answers your question. If not, let us know.

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks Chris! I had tried clicking on the pdf icon before and had just gotten another page (again with the pdf icon). If I click on that 2nd page's pdf icon then the actual document does appear (I was just one click short before :^). - Steve
