Mocavo Genealogy Search Engine for the UK is Live

Email from  Cliff Shaw says that is now live:

"Our ancestors are like needles in a global-sized haystack. Many of us have zeroed in on what area of the globe our needles happen to lie, so why should we be required to search the whole thing? The Mocavo team has decided it’s time this proverbial haystack got sectioned off.

"Today we’re thrilled to launch - a United Kingdom version of Mocavo that will search websites, blogs, records and content specifically from, or discussing, English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh descent.

"While searches sites and blogs from around the world, and will continue to do so, will focus specifically on the United Kingdom, giving those who wish to narrow their search to that region the ability to do just that.

"So if you descend from UK families, be sure to check out our newest addition to the Mocavo search family. As always, we look forward to your feedback, which helps make our services that much better for your research. You can let us know your thoughts at or on our Facebook page. Cheers!"

I tried it out a while ago - I entered my brick wall "Ann Marshman" and "Hilperton" into the search field, and it found all of my message board, web site and blog posts about my 3rd great-grandmother who married John Richman.  Unfortunately, it didn't find anything else...but no surprise there!  I searched for "Richard Marshman" and "Devizes" (one of Ann's possible fathers is Richard), and it found a "Wiltshire notes and queries" book on the Internet Archive.
It works well.  Try it!

Thanks for letting us know about this, Randy. I'm working on my husband's Irish and Welsh families, so I'll have to give it a try. Glad to hear you had a good first experience with it!

Its a great little engine and now its a it will be very helpful for UK ancestry searches. The best for search engines in this area now, although nothing beats looking at actual records of course!

Glad you had such great luck and like it so well. I have found it of no help at all and still prefer Goggle searches.
